I have been on the road all week so just got caught up tonight on last night’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy. I was moved to tears by this scene. What amazing writing and a stellar performance. To get the full effect, catch the full the episode but in short — a man is brought to the ER badly injured after being trampled by horses. His boyfriend had arranged a horse-drawn carriage and bagpipes in celebration after signing papers to become domestic partners. The pipes spooked the horses and the man’s boyfriend is admitted with intense spinal injuries.
This scene does an amazing job of driving home the point of how insanely ridiculous it is that we, “the land of the free” still in the 21st century cannot all be equal to marry the loves of our lives. I had never heard this man’s name before, but as soon as I went to google this scene, I immediately saw it splashed all over the internet along with zillions of comments calling for him to win an Emmy for best supporting guest actor. I couldn’t agree more!
