basement planning: the bathroom

Both our realtor and our builder’s realtor talked us into the idea of including a bathroom in our plans when we got around to finishing the basement. A full doesn’t make sense down here since there’s no bedroom, but it will certainly be nice to have a half down here when people want to watch movies or hang in the hot tub on the patio, and not have to go upstairs.

We have our eye on this vanity from Home Decorators Collection. I’m picturing some brightly colored pool towels stacked down below. Maybe some like these Jonathan Adler towels…so crazy fun.

I also would like a way to hang up towels that are used and damp. Either a row of hooks on one wall, or maybe a cool ladder like this…

We’re still not sure on paint colors for this level yet, but depending on the palette, it could be fun to do a totally bold one in this little room. I also haven’t ruled out the industrial look and the use of some corrugated metal – I love this example of it being used in a bathroom here.

If you have any great ideas for a basement half bath, I’d love to hear them!
