One of my favorite parts of the changing seasons is going through clothes and taking inventory. I’ve been spending a couple of recent evenings moving my summer clothing to the guest room closet for storage and pulling pieces I’m “over” to go to consignment or Goodwill. Same with fall items as I pull them out and put them on hangers.
There are always inevitably a few holes when I start a new season…oh darn, time to shop.
Here are a couple of items that have come home to live with me in recent days…
You know I had to have something yellow. I’m not a big shopper of the “teeny bopper” stores anymore, but when I passed by this mustard-colored jacket through the store window, it was love at first sight. With a riding boot and some skinnies – yes please.
I got rid of several jeans last spring, so I’m slowly rebuilding my stock. And while I love my denim blues, I have seen tons of outfits I’d love to try with a black skinny jean. I have black leggings and I have plenty of black dressier pants – these are that great “in between”, not too dressy, but still pants (since I happen to subscribe to the school of thought that leggings, alone, are NOT pants).
I have a slight love affair going with plaid, flannel shirts right now. I bought one last year at H&M and wore it to death – you may remember during our series of house-building photos, I somehow managed to have it on more than once. So I added this super-soft, perfect shade of kelly green version for this year. It doesn’t look like you can buy the color online anymore, but I found mine in the store last week when I was on the hunt for some leggings.
The one item still on my fall “must have” list that I have yet to find is a chambray button-down. I so wish we had a Madewell near us so I could try on. Probably for the best, as I won’t be tempted by twenty other cute things in their store!
What’s on your fall “must have” list? What items from last fall can you not wait to wear again?

That yellow jacket is so you and I couldn’t agree more that leggings are not pants unless you are under 2.
Fun post.
