I’m already thinking ahead to some ideas as to what might hang on the walls of our new lower level once the paint dries. Now that I know the color scheme, it’s a bit easier to narrow down although like everything else with this basement, we’re keeping a budget in mind, so it’s all about some DIY pieces. I think I’ve already mentally created the final pieces that will go down here (to be revealed later!) but here’s a look at some of the awesomely cool things created by others, that have served as inspiration!

I do love myself a photo wall, but I like the different spin on this idea. How cool to do a collage of every year we’ve been married and panel five collages down a wall? We’ll have a long one opposite the wet bar that might just be perfect.

I like the texture of the string against the canvas, and the nails allude to the whole industrial thing a bit…plus we have plenty around lately
I wouldn’t do a heart, but a word could be cool or a letter “S” maybe…

One of my favorite things about my office is the silver “LOVE” word against the grey wall. I love the monochromatic look and the letters aren’t pricey at all – it would be fun to do a word or phrase in the same color as the wall paint for a subtle dimensional message.

In my mind, you can never go wrong with words on a canvas, whether it’s a quote from a movie, song lyrics, or a favorite piece of literature. Seeing as the basement will be heavily used for movie-watching, I could definitely see a series of these with great one-liners painted on them.

I’ve had a little trouble tracking down whether or not these prints are still available from the artist, but I’ve thought about taking a wedding picture of us dancing and giving it this super artistic silhouette treatment in photoshop and having a couple canvases printed. I wouldn’t even want it to be recognizable that it’s us – I just figure I have the rights to those photos so that might be the easiest way to get started!

I’m not sure if it’s that I’m suddenly drawn to gold (never thought it would ever make its way back to decor!) or that it’s a USA reference, but I love this canvas. The white background is a little plain for my taste – but the idea is very cool.
Fortunately I have a little time to get started…but am looking forward to some crafty hours ahead!

Let me know when you have craft nights and ill join! I need to make some artwork for my new place!!
